In the Lakhimpur case, the Yogi government has been accused of being the shield of the accused from the very beginning. But the government believes that it has acted under the law in this matter. The state not only strongly opposed the court’s decision to grant bail to Ashish but is also considering the option of challenging his bail. The government claims that the matter of challenging the bail is being considered by the concerned authority.
The government says in the Supreme Court that the counter affidavit filed in the Allahabad High Court can be seen. In this, he has protested against the decision to grant bail. It should be noted that on March 15, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the government on the special leave petition of the victim’s family. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the aggrieved party, opposed the bail granted to Ashish and also referred to the attack on a family member. Bhushan said that after the results of the UP elections were out, the family member was targeted. The petition was filed before the bench of the Chief Justice.
The government, in its reply, said that the family member was not attacked after the elections as part of any conspiracy, but in a dispute over dyeing of colors in Holi. It has nothing to do with Ashish Mishra’s case. The government said that the victim’s family is trying to give importance to the matter unnecessarily. Whereas the investigation did not reveal any such fact in which the family member was attacked after the election conspiracy.
The government said that each witness has been provided with armed police personnel. There are total 98 witnesses in the case, out of which 79 are from Lakhimpurkheri district while 17 are from outside districts. Along with providing gunners to the victim’s family, the government is also continuously monitoring through CCTV. Barriers have also been put up near the house of the victim’s family, so that no one can reach them unnecessarily or intentionally.
