The tug of war between the MVA government of Maharashtra and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has started intensifying again. People associated with the Uddhav government often target him, but this time Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has taken a dig at Koshyari in front of PM Modi. Pawar said that speaking unnecessarily is his habit and people do not like this thing either.
Before PM’s speech, Pawar said that he wants to bring some things to his notice. Some people who are sitting on important posts are spoiling the atmosphere of the state by making unnecessary statements. He said that people are also getting upset about this.
In fact, a statement by Koshyari has once again led to a tussle with the Maharashtra government. This time the cause of controversy is a comment made by Koshyari about the Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji. Koshyari said in Aurangabad that Samarth Ramdas was the guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji. However, his statement also angered BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Udayanraje Bhosale. He is a direct descendant of Shivaji.
Koshyari’s remarks were met with protests from all sides. Many Maratha organizations also protested against this remark and even demanded the removal of Koshyari from the post of Governor. He says it is a malafide attempt to change history and claimed that Chhatrapati Shivaji’s mother Jijabai was his real guru.
Sharad Pawar’s daughter and MP Supriya Sule had tweeted an order of the Bombay High Court saying that there is no record available to show that Shivaji Maharaj had met Ramdas or that he considered Ramdas as his guru. Supriya also shared an old video clip of NCP supremo and her father Sharad Pawar explaining how the claims of Ramdas being Shivaji’s guru are completely baseless.
