Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien raised an issue in the House which has been confronted by many MPs for a long time. On Wednesday, the last day of the House, O’Brien said residents of Goa with Portuguese names like D’Rosario and D’Cruz are not getting the Provident Fund because of their names. Further citing the reason, he said that the computer program installed in EPFO does not take apostrophe with English names.
The MP further said that his own Anglo-Indian society which uses European descent is also facing a similar problem. Finally O’Brien said that asking people to change names just for the convenience of computers is not acceptable at all.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi government at the Center on the issue of inflation. On his behalf, a tweet was made on social media about the rising petrol and diesel prices, in which he demanded a discussion on this issue in the Rajya Sabha.
