The hashtag #ModiCheatedFarmers has been trending on Twitter since Wednesday morning. After the Supreme Court’s report on agricultural laws became public, social media users are appealing to Prime Minister Modi through this trend that the government should make a law regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the country. Farmers’ organizations have also appealed to the government many times that the government should make a law regarding MSP.
In support of the hashtag Modi Cheated Farmers, a Twitter user named Sandeep Dhaliwal wrote that, “Anti-farmer BJP has formed committee like last time and farmers have called for agitation from April 11 to April 17.” There itself Sarjit Dhaliwal Tweeting on the hashtag, wrote, “MSP is a tool that can solve the agrarian crisis in India. This will bring money in the hands of the farmers, who are also the biggest consumers. With the increase in expenditure, the economic power of the farmers will increase.” Simultaneously, Sarjit asked that minimum wage is applicable in India, minimum pension is applicable, then why not MSP?
Taking a jibe at the Modi government, a Twitter user named Aman Kaur wrote, “Farmers are still waiting for the pending demands to be fulfilled as Modi did not come forward to fulfill them.” Whereas Mohit Gehlot A Twitter user by the name wrote that, “Agriculture Insurance Scheme launched by Modi government for farmers is actually implemented to benefit big corporates and not farmers. Modi government repeatedly brings such policies which are against the farmers.
A Twitter user named Prabhjot Singh Sandhu wrote about the beginning of the farmers’ movement again, “If the Government of India brings all three agrarian bills again, then it will not take long for the farmers’ movement to rise.” Twitter user named Jass wrote that, “Agriculture laws have been repealed but nothing has changed. Farmers are still suffering. According to Modi’s report, 84% of farmers were in support of the laws but in reality these laws were made only to eliminate the farmers.
After the release of a report by the Supreme Court Rakesh Tikait Ghanvat once again warned of the farmers’ movement and tweeted, “Ghanvat made public the report submitted to the Supreme Court in support of the three agricultural laws and proved that he was a puppet of the central government. Under the guise of this, if the intention of the Center is to bring these bills again, then it will not take long for more big farmers’ agitations to arise in the country.
