New board constituted for JEE Main and Advanced examination of 2022 and 2023
The Union Education Ministry has appointed 19 new members for conducting Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and Advanced Examination for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), other centrally funded engineering institutes in 2022 and 2023. JEE Apex Board (JAB) has been constituted. According to a notification issued by the ministry, it has been decided to reconstitute JEE Apex Board for smooth conduct of JEE Main and Advanced examination in 2022 and 2023.
It will be headed by Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthy, former director of IIT Madras. Its members will include directors from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Jaipur, IIT Rourkela, IIT Bangalore, IIT Nagpur and IITDM Kurnool. As per the UGC draft, it will be mandatory to take at least 20 credits out of 160 credits in a four-year course. Students planning to drop out of the course in the first or second year will have to do internships in the second and fourth semesters. The National Policy on Education (NEP) 2020 envisages promoting quality research within the higher education system.
