Amidst the rising demand to withdraw the “Agnipath Scheme”, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar has described it as a transformational scheme, which will benefit from skilling of youth to personality development. Along with enumerating the merits of the scheme, he also talked about the reasons due to which the decision was taken to start the scheme.
In an interview with the TV channel “Aaj Tak”, the Navy Chief said that this is a very good scheme. He told that through this, now up to 3-4 times people will get a chance to join the army. He said that most of the people will be benefited from Agneepath scheme as they can come for short duration and work in the army and during this time they will also get a chance to decide whether they want to continue in the army or any other field. I want to make my career.
Will be able to decide in short duration job – want to stay in army or do something else
Admiral R Hari Kumar said that after 4 years the youth can decide whether they want to remain in the army or want to do some other work. If someone wants to go to Agniveer, then they will also get 12 lakh rupees as a retirement fund.
Self-confidence will increase with hardship
He said that while working in the army, youth will also be developed and they will become more self-confident by facing hardships. Skills will be learned, education will also get credit, then their personality development will take place.
Reason behind introducing the scheme
Apart from this, he also told that what is the reason for bringing this scheme? A recommendation was made in the Army Committee Report to reduce the age profile in the Armed Forces. He told that many schemes were studied to reduce it and then worked on it. Eventually it got settled on Agneepath scheme, so the thought of starting this scheme.
Army is not just a job but service to the nation
He said that the army is not just a job opportunity, it is a matter of service to the country. Join the army if you want to. Will come for 4 years and serve the country and if you like army then you can continue.
This year there will be 46,500 recruitments through Agneepath scheme
Naval Vice Admiral DK Tripathi said that through this scheme, more and more people will get an opportunity to serve the country by joining the army. He told that recruitment will be done in the same way as it has been done in Navy, Army and Air Force, although there has been a change in the number of recruitments. It has been decided to recruit 46,500 this year.
