Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate in the presidential election to be held on July 18, has accused the central government of misusing government agencies. He said that this government is using central agencies only on its political rivals. Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha met former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Sinha said, “During the last 60 years, I have never seen such terror of government agencies as I am seeing in this government.” He said, “I was a Union minister in Atal ji’s government for five years but never even thought of adopting such tactics for political opponents came to my mind. Such misuse of central agencies never used to happen then, but in this government, I see ED, IT departments being used shamelessly,” he said.
Didn’t have to face so many problems even in emergency
Sinha further said, “Our democracy is in grave danger at this time. The ruling party and its government are engaged in destroying the institutions of democratic governance. Agencies like ED, CBI, Income Tax Department and even the Governor’s Office are being used to target opposition leaders.
Central government accused of using agencies
The present government is using these agencies as a weapon to defect to the opposition parties and topple the state governments ruled by the opposition. To win the elections, the ruling government has hatched an evil conspiracy of communal polarization. This will have dangerous consequences for the country and society.” Sinha said, “The ruling government’s party one ruler’s agenda is to make democratic India an imitator of Communist China. It should be stopped.”
Taunting PM Modi under the guise of Murmu
Sinha is contesting against NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. He said, “Since I filed my nomination on June 27, I have been continuously warning the nation through my meetings, press conferences and media interviews about the dangers posed to our democracy and our Constitution. I have done this because I believe that the people of India have a right to know. What are his views on various issues and challenges for the country from the candidates for the highest office of the republic. However, I am disappointed that the ruling party candidate has not addressed a single press conference so far. Perhaps she wants to follow the example of the Prime Minister who has not addressed a single press conference in the last eight years.
Use of government machinery to bring down the government of the states
Regarding the change of government in Maharashtra, he said, “What happened in Maharashtra? Uddhav Thackeray’s government was toppled. Why do you all think that after two and a half years of being with the Thackeray government, Eknath Shinde suddenly got this thought? There is a long story behind the scenes. It became even more clear today when I came to know that some Shiv Sena MLAs are pressurizing Thackeray to vote for NDA candidate in the presidential election. On this occasion, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Uday Bhan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and several Haryana Congress MLAs shared the stage and announced that they would all vote for Sinha in the upcoming Presidential election.
