Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, singer Adnan Sami, badminton player PV Sindhu, including 141 people for this year and 119 for last year, have been honored with Padma awards by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Padma Awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi today. After the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award, the distribution of Padma awards took place in the historic Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan where President Ram Nath Kovind honored all the people at the Padma award ceremony. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah also participated in the ceremony. President Ram Nath Kovind has given 119 Padma Awards this year. Out of which 7 are Padma Vibhushan, 10 are Padma Bhushan and 102 are Padma Shri awards. 29 of the recipients of these awards are women. At the same time, there are 16 people who are being given the award posthumously and 1 transgender is also included. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for the year 2020.
Let us tell you that those who were honored include George Fernandez (posthumous), Arun Jaitley (posthumously), Sushma Swaraj (posthumously), former President and Prime Minister of Mauritius Anirudh Jugnauth (posthumously), Pandit of Uttar Pradesh for the Arts Channulal Mishra, Mary Kom of Manipur for sports, spirituality (posthumous) to Sri Vishwatirtha Swami (posthumous) of Pejavar Math in Udupi, Karnataka.
