The first hydrogen-based fuel cell electric vehicle has been launched in India. Toyota Mirai has been launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. It is powered by Green Hydrogen based fuel (Hydrogen Fuel Car). Along with this, Toyota Mirai can give a range of 650 km in a single charge. That is, after taking this car, you will get rid of the problem of filling petrol and diesel again and again.
The Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that it is completely environment friendly, emitting water instead of smoke from tailpipes. Toyota Kirloskar Motor claimed that the Toyota Mirai is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell battery pack and can be recharged in five minutes. Capable of providing a range of up to 650 km on a single charge.
Gadkari said that green hydrogen can be generated from renewable energy and abundantly available biomass. He said that by introducing and adopting technology to harness the potential of green hydrogen, a clean and economical energy can be achieved for India. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Energy Minister RK Singh and Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey were also present during the programme.
pilot project being prepared
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in association with International Center for Automotive Technology (ICAT), is working on a pilot project based on the world’s most advanced FCEV Toyota Mirai, which runs on hydrogen in Indian roads and climatic conditions.
