BJP candidates have won by-elections in Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat and Rampur seat of Uttar Pradesh. BJP candidate Ghanshyam Lodhi has won from Rampur, while Nirhua has won from Azamgarh. The results of the by-election will also have an effect on the presidential election. Due to this, BJP can get a big advantage in UP because now BJP has 66 MPs in Uttar Pradesh.
The term of President Ram Nath Kovind is ending on 24 July 2022. In such a situation, the election of the President is certain to be held before the end of the term. UP is very important for BJP in terms of presidential election. The country has a total of 10,98,882 votes for the presidential election. The weightage of the vote of a state legislator in UP is 208, while the state has a total of 403 assembly seats.
In such a situation, the weightage of the total vote of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly is 83,824, which is much more than any other state. At the same time, the total weightage of the vote of an MP is 56,640. That is, for the presidential election in UP, the weightage of the total vote of the assembly and the MPs is 1,40,464.
Mathematics of Lok Sabha: There are total 80 Lok Sabha and 31 Rajya Sabha MPs in Uttar Pradesh. The weightage of an MP’s vote is 700. Here the Bharatiya Janata Party now has 66 MPs while the NDA alliance’s Apna Dal has two MPs. In such a situation, the weightage of the vote of the Lok Sabha MPs of NDA increases from 44,800 to 1400 weightage to 46,200. Apart from this, there are ten BSP MPs, whose vote weight is 7000. At the same time, after the by-election, the SP now has only 3 MPs, due to which the weightage of their vote is 2100. At the same time, the weightage of the vote of the only MP of Congress is 700.
Mathematics of Rajya Sabha: On the other hand, there are 31 MPs from UP in Rajya Sabha. There are 22 MPs of BJP, 5 of SP and 3 of BSP, while there is a pro-SP independent MP Kapil Sibal. In UP, the weightage of votes of BJP MPs of Rajya Sabha is 15400, SP MPs vote weightage is 3500 and BSP MPs votes have a weightage of 2100. On the other hand, due to Kapil Sibal’s vote, the weightage of SP’s vote increases by 700.
NDA Alliance Accounts: The weightage of the vote of an MLA in the state is 208. The BJP alliance (NDA) has 273 MLAs out of 403 in UP. In this, the weightage of 255 MLAs of BJP is 53,040, while the vote weight of 12 MLAs of Apna Dal (Sonelal) is 3,060. The total weightage of 6 MLAs of Nishad Party, another coalition party, is 1,248. In such a situation, the vote weightage of the MLAs of the NDA alliance becomes 57,348.
