Varanasi, October 25 (IANS) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the PM Self-Reliant Healthy India Scheme from his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. During this, he said that now even the child of the poor can become a doctor. Prime Minister Modi said that in the long period after independence, health facilities were not given as much attention as the country needed. Those whose governments remained in the country for a long time, instead of fully developing the country’s healthcare system, deprived it of facilities. The speed with which new medical colleges are being opened in UP will have a great impact on the number of medical seats and doctors. Due to more seats, now the child of poor parents will also be able to dream of becoming a doctor and fulfill it.
Modi said that the work which should have been done decades ago is being done now. We have been continuously improving for the last seven years. Now this work has to be done on a very large scale. If such a health system is created, then employment opportunities are also created. This mission is also a means of economic self-reliance. Healthcare is not a way to make money. Earlier public money used to go to scams. Today money is being spent in big projects. After independence, more doctors are going to meet in the next ten years than the number of doctors who have come out of the medical college in 70 years. When there are more doctors then doctors will be available in the village. This is the new India where new things are being done increasing with the aspirations.
He said that the country has completed a major milestone of 100 crore vaccine doses in its fight against the corona epidemic. With the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, with the unwavering glory of Maa Ganga, with the unshakable faith of the residents of Kashi, the campaign of free vaccine for all is progressing with success. The Prime Minister said that there are three major aspects of Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission to address the different gaps in the health sector of the country. The first relates to the creation of elaborate facilities for diagnostics and treatment. Today there is a government at the Center and in the state which understands the pain of the poor, downtrodden, oppressed, backward, middle class, all.
The Prime Minister said that we are working day and night to improve health facilities in the country. The second aspect of the scheme is related to the testing network for diagnosis of diseases. Under this mission, necessary infrastructure will be developed for the investigation of diseases, how to monitor them. If Kashi has been another big achievement of the past years, then it is the progress of BHU again towards excellence in the world. Today, from technology to health, unprecedented facilities are being created in BHU. Young fellows from all over the country are coming here for studies.
Modi said that today the heart of Kashi is the same, the mind is the same, but sincere efforts are being made to improve the body. The amount of work that has been done in Varanasi in the last 7 years has not been done in the last several decades. He said that if there were hospitals in small towns, there were no doctors. If you run towards big cities, there used to be a crowd. Today the health system is being reformed. Trying to catch the disease early and not delay. Efforts are being made to make facilities available up to the block, tehsil level. Health wellness centers are being opened. There will be facility to catch diseases at an early stage. Here free medicine, free advice, everything will be available for free. If the disease is detected early then its treatment will be easier. Referral facility will be provided in 125 districts. Apart from this, network related to surgery is also being strengthened in the states.
