In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party has announced its two candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. For this the party has nominated Padma Shri Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Padma Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahni as members of Rajya Sabha. Let us inform that on June 10, 57 Rajya Sabha members are to be elected in 15 states. In this, elections are to be held on two seats in Punjab.
Announcing both the candidates, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann wrote in a tweet, “I am very happy to inform that Aam Aadmi Party is nominating two Padma Shri awardees as members of Rajya Sabha. One is environment lover Padma Shri Sant Balbir Singh Sinchewal, the other Padma Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahni belonging to Punjabi culture. My best wishes to both of you.”
Let us tell you that both the Rajya Sabha seats in Punjab are sure to go to the Aam Aadmi Party. In fact, AAP got a huge majority in the recently held assembly elections in the state. Because of which it is believed that he will not face any problem in the Rajya Sabha elections.
It is worth noting that earlier in March this year also Rajya Sabha elections were held on five seats in Punjab. In all these five seats, AAP’s candidates Professor Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Sanjeev Arora were nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha elections in these states also: Rajya Sabha elections are to be held in one seat of Uttarakhand, two seats each in Haryana, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana. At the same time, elections will be held on three seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Apart from this, elections will be held on three seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Whereas 4-4 seats are included in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan, 5 seats in Bihar, 6-6 seats in Maharashtra and 11 seats in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
Significantly, members will be able to file their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections till May 31. After which the scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 1 and by June 3, candidates will have the facility to withdraw their nominations. After this, polling will be held on June 10.
