On June 26, the results of the by-elections were held for two Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and one in UP. There has been a big change in these three seats. In fact, the Shiromani Akali Dal has won the Sangrur seat of Punjab occupied by AAP, while the BJP has captured the Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats. Let us inform that earlier Rampur and Azamgarh seats were occupied by SP.
Rampur: Rampur Lok Sabha seat of UP, which was always considered to be dominated by Azam Khan. BJP candidate Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi has won this seat. According to the information of the Election Commission, Lodhi got 367397 votes, while SP candidate Asim Raza got 325205 votes. The margin of victory is 42,192 votes.
It is worth noting that veteran SP leader Azam Khan was elected MP from Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2019. He defeated BJP’s candidate Jaya Prada by nearly one lakh votes. But in the UP assembly held in 2022, he contested the assembly elections from Rampur seat and won. In such a situation, he had to leave the Rampur Lok Sabha seat.
Let us inform that after getting bail, Azam Khan, who was in jail for nearly two years, gave his full strength for the Lok Sabha by-election to be held on Rampur seat. He also got his favorite candidate an SP ticket but the results were not in his favour.
It is known that Rampur Lok Sabha seat is a Muslim majority seat. Here 55 percent of the voters are Muslims. At the same time, Azam Khan was keeping the command of the election campaign with him in the by-election. When the counting of votes started on Sunday morning, Asim Raja was leading but at the last moment BJP won. The defeat of Asim Raja in Rampur is being seen as the defeat of Azam Khan.
Azamgarh: The Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat is considered to be dominated by SP. Akhilesh Yadav had won this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. His father Mulayam Singh Yadav has also been an MP from this seat. In 2019, in front of Akhilesh Yadav, BJP had given ticket to Dinesh Lal Yadav but he could not win.
In 2019, Bhojpuri Cinestar Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirhua’ was defeated by Akhilesh Yadav by 2 Lakh 59 Thousand 874 votes. But in the recently held UP assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav contested and won the Karhal assembly seat. After this he decided to leave the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat.
When Lok Sabha by-elections were held in Azamgarh seat, BJP again bet on Dinesh Lal Yadav in this seat. On the other hand, SP fielded Dharmendra Yadav from Yadav clan. In the results, Dinesh Lal Yadav defeated Dharmendra Yadav of SP by 8,679 votes. In this by-election, Dinesh Lal Yadav got 3,127,68 votes while Dharmendra Yadav got 3,040,89 votes.
Sangrur: The Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback in the Lok Sabha by-elections held after getting a thumping majority in the Punjab Assembly elections. Let us inform that Simranjit Singh Mann of Akali Dal Amritsar has won the Sangrur Lok Sabha by-election. He defeated Gurmail Singh of Aam Aadmi Party.
Let us inform that AAP leader Bhagwant Mann has reached Parliament twice from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. But after becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab this year, he resigned from this Lok Sabha seat. After which the by-election was held here. In this seat dominated by AAP, Aam Aadmi Party Gurmail Singh has to face defeat. He was defeated by Simranjit Mann by 5822 votes. While Gurmail Singh got 2,47,332 votes, Simranjit Mann got 2,53,154 votes.
Condition of seven assembly seats: On June 26, in addition to three Lok Sabha seats, the results of by-elections were held in seven assembly seats. In which AAP’s Durgesh Pathak has won the Rajinder Nagar seat of Delhi by 11,468 votes. In this by-election, Durgesh Pathak got 40,319 votes while his nearest rival Rajesh Bhatia of BJP got 28,851 votes.
On the other hand, Congress’s Shilpi Neha Tirkey, the joint candidate of the ruling alliance, defeated Gangotri Kujur of the BJP by a margin of 23,517 votes in Jharkhand’s Mandar. Shilpi Neha got 95,062 votes while BJP’s Gangotri got 71545 votes.
The ruling YSR Congress Party’s candidate M. Vikram Reddy defeated his nearest BJP’s G. Bharat Kumar by 82,742 votes in the by-election to Atmakur seat in Andhra Pradesh. Vikram Reddy got 1,02,241 votes while Bharat Kumar got 19,353 votes.
On the other hand, in the by-elections held on four assembly seats in Tripura, Congress has won one and BJP has won 4 seats. In this, BJP candidate and Chief Minister Manik Saha has won from Town Bardowli seat of Tripura. Congress candidate Sudip Roy Burman has won in Agartala. Apart from this, Jabrajnagar and Soorma seats have also come in BJP’s bag.
