Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has identified JKLF chief Yasin Malik and three others as kidnappers.
Rubaiya Saeed was kidnapped near Lal Ded Hospital on December 8, 1989. To release Rubaiya, a demand was made from the then BJP-backed VP Singh government at the Center to release 5 terrorists. Rubaiya was released five days after the five terrorists were released.
Rubaiya Saeed appeared before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday (July 15, 2022). The CBI started investigating the matter in 1990. This was the first time since then that Rubaiya Saeed was asked to appear before the court in connection with the case.
What happened in court?
Rubaiya identified Yasin Malik, who was present in the court as the kidnapper, through video conferencing. Rubaiya told the judge, “This is the same person and his name is Yasin Malik. It was the man who threatened me that he would drag me out of the minibus if I refused to obey his orders.” He also identified Yasin Malik through photographs displayed in the court.
Let us inform that Yasin Malik is serving a life sentence for funding terrorists. Recently he has been sentenced to this. Others accused by the CBI in the case include Ali Mohammad Mir, Mohammad Zaman Mir, Iqbal Ahmed Gandru, Javed Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Rafiq Pehlu, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wajahat Bashir, Mehraj-ud-din Shaikh and Shaukat Ahmed Bakshi.
