Three-day Chintan Shivir of Congress Party is going on in Rajasthan and Sunday is the last day of Chintan Shivir. In this contemplation camp, many demands were made by the Congress leaders and important discussions were held on many things. A statement can be issued by the Congress party regarding the decisions taken in the Chintan Shivir on Sunday. At the same time, in the Chintan Shivir, the Hindutva of the BJP and the disillusionment of Muslim leaders with the Congress were also discussed.
In a meeting chaired by senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel emphasized that the party should not shy away from celebrating Hindu festivals as it is doing in his state. But former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan pressed for more ideological clarity. Another party member said that Muslims are leaving the party because of the party’s confused stand. Another leader said the party trying to give an answer to Hindutva is trying to bat on the pitch of the BJP. Yet another leader reportedly said that we have to answer as now the debate has gone further.
On the second day of the Chintan Shivir on Saturday, there was more discussion in the party about the issue of Hindutva and the way forward for the party on Hindutva. The party also clarified its opinion on yesterday’s press conference regarding the survey in Gyanvapi Masjid. Congress leader P Chidambaram referred to the 1991 Worship Act during the press conference and took a clear stand that no attempt should be made to change the status of any place of worship. But on the big question of how to counter the BJP’s Hindutva, the road ahead was not so clear at the ongoing three-day Chintan Shivir here.
Sonia Gandhi had asked party representatives to speak with an open mind during her inaugural speech on Friday. However, he also said that the party leaders should ensure that the message of strengthening the organization, determination and unity should come out from Udaipur. He said the Congress was not oblivious to the recent election setbacks.
At the same time, a major demand of the disgruntled Congress leaders in Udaipur has been accepted. In fact, there was a demand from the disgruntled Congress leaders that a Central Parliamentary Board should be formed in the party and now it has been accepted as a suggestion in the party meeting. Now the decision on this has to be taken by the Congress Working Committee, which takes important decisions for the party.
