The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday announced the name of Draupadi Murmu as the NDA’s candidate for the post of President. Officials said on Wednesday that the central government has provided round-the-clock Z-category armed security by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. That is, now Draupadi Murmu will be under the security cover of CRPF jawans.
An official with knowledge of the matter told news agency ANI that the CRPF has provided security to Draupadi Murmu since Wednesday morning following an order from the Home Ministry on Tuesday evening. 64-year-old Draupadi Murmu has also been the governor of Jharkhand and comes from tribal society. Draupadi Murmu’s victory is believed to be certain and if it happens, she will be the first woman tribal president of the country.
