Kathmandu. An Indian climber died while climbing Mount Kangchenjunga in Nepal, a media report said. The Himalayan Times quoted Pasang Sherpa, president of Pioneer Adventure, as saying that Maharashtra’s Narayanan Iyer died on Thursday at an altitude of 8,200 meters when he was on his way to the world’s third highest peak.
Sherpa said the incident took place when the 52-year-old climber refused to descend even after falling ill while finishing the climb.
The Sherpa claimed that Iyer’s climbing guide had repeatedly asked him to descend, but he did not listen.
He said other climbers who have climbed the mountain are now descending from Camp Four to Base Camp.
