The body of Indian student Naveen Shekharappa Gyangoudar, who lost his life in the Russo-Ukraine war, will be brought to India on Monday. Naveen was killed on March 1 in the ongoing conflict in Kharkiv, one of Ukraine’s major cities. Naveen, who lives in Haveri district of Karnataka, was an MBBS student at Kharkiv National Medical University. The student’s father told that he has decided to donate his son’s body. State Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai handed over a check of Rs 25 lakh to the family. Along with this, one member has been promised a job.
The body of Naveen, who was shot in Kharkiv, will reach Bengaluru on Monday. His father Shekharappa gave this information. He said, ‘My son’s body will reach Bengaluru on the 21st at 3 am. From there the body will come to our village at 9 am. After this we will do the worship as per the Veera Shaiva tradition and later the body will be kept for the people to see and after that we will donate the body to SS Hospital Devanagari for medical studies.
Talking to news agency ANI, he said, ‘My son wanted to achieve something in the medical field, but it did not happen. At least his body can be used by other students for medical studies. So at home we have decided to donate the dead body for medical research. Earlier, CM Bommai had made it clear that Naveen’s body would reach Bengaluru airport on Monday and not on Sunday.
Naveen’s father said, “We got a message from Haveri District Collector and also got a message from Emirates Flight Service. We are at least happy that our son’s body is being brought back. CM spoke to me and expressed his gratitude. He also said that he will reach Bengaluru airport and village as well. He said he would discuss with me in the evening.
