Lahore: A case has been registered against a man for harassing his Indian wife in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province. Factory Area police officer Mohammad Abbas told PTI, “We have registered a case against Mirza Yusuf Ilahi on the complaint of his Indian wife Farzana Begum for torturing him, confiscating his passport, threatening and illegally confining him.” “A case has been registered against the accused.”

The police officer said that raids are being conducted to arrest the suspect. Farzana Begum, while talking to ‘PTI-Bhasha’ over phone, narrated her ordeal in Pakistan. Farzana is a resident of Cheetah Camp in Mumbai. Farzana met Mirza Yousuf Elahi in 2015 during a function with her friends in UAE. In the same year both of them decided to get married.

Both Farzana and Ilahi were divorced. Farzana had a son and a daughter from her first marriage while Ilahi had six children from his first two wives and this was his fourth marriage. He lived in the UAE for the first three years of his marriage and had two children. The couple moved to Lahore in late 2018.
What did Farzana say to the police?
Farzana said that after this, Ilahi started harassing her and asked her to go back to her country India. She said, “Ilahi even told the local police that I was living here illegally. After that, some policemen forcibly took me to Wagah Border to deport me. I told the officials at Wagah border that my two children are here and my husband wants to get rid of me. “On the intervention of senior officials, I was allowed to go home.”
Farzana’s request
“Last week, Ilahi brutally tortured me, confiscated my passport and asked me to go back to India,” Farzana alleged. She said that she would not go back to India without her children. “I request the Government of Pakistan and the Indian Embassy to take note of this and arrest Ilahi and recover my passport,” she said.
