Mahoba. A teacher at a primary school in Chhikhara village of Mahoba district allegedly thrashed a Dalit girl student for drinking water from a pitcher kept for the staff. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jitendra Singh has ordered the Additional Basic Education Officer to investigate the incident and submit a report.
During this, the girl’s family members and villagers created a ruckus outside the Tehsil office.
The girl, a resident of Chikhara village, is a Class VII student in a basic school.
He told that pitchers have been kept in the school for the teachers and students to drink water.
On Saturday, the pot kept for the students was empty, so he drank water from the teachers’ pitcher.
On this, assistant teacher Kalyan Singh beat him up.
The girl reached home and told her parents about the incident.
Her father Ramesh Kumar reached the school with several villagers.
It is alleged that even then the teacher concerned misbehaved with him by using caste words.
After this, everyone reached the tehsil and created a ruckus and demanded action.
Additional BSA Gaurav Shukla told on Sunday that the statements of the teacher and the student have been recorded in the school.
The girl said that she was never discriminated against before. The inquiry report will be submitted to the senior officers.
At the same time, the teacher Kalyan Singh told that the student was taking out water from the glass by putting her hand in the pitcher.
Singh said that he was scolded for this and I did not beat up the student.
