It has been more than seven months since the launch of the iPhone in India. In such a situation, there is a possibility that the production of the phone will start from the month of April at the FoxPone plant in Sriparumbudur, Chennai. The production of iPhone 13 at the Chennai plant was planned to start from the month of January itself. However, the plant had to be closed for a few days after the controversy that arose after the food poisoning incident in December. Due to which the plan to start manufacturing by Apple company was kept silent for some time.
By February, all operations at the plant had been stopped. However, no statement was given from Apple’s side in this matter. At present, the plant is kept under Apple’s surveillance for improvement. Foxconn will have to achieve a production value of Rs 8000 crore after the base year 2022-23 to meet its commitment under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of the Government of India.
