New Delhi. A unique scene emerged during the IPL auction on Tuesday. Punjab Kings unknowingly included an unwanted player in their team. Subsequently, co-owner Preity Zinta and the franchise requested to remove the player, but auctioneer Mallika Sagar firmly refused, saying that the auction process has been completed and there is no scope to change the decision. Due to this, an unwanted player joined Preity Zinta’s team.
In what way did Punjab Kings go wrong?
The player being talked about was Shashank Singh, whose base price was kept at Rs 20 lakh. Preity Zinta picked up the paddle for Shashank Singh. Surprisingly, no other team bid for Shashank Singh, leading to an early sale. After this Mallika Sagar moved ahead for the next set. The first name in that set was Tanish Thiagarajan, but Punjab Kings had a feeling. Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia and others were sitting at the table, who suddenly realized that they had mistakenly identified Shashank Singh as a different player.
Fantastic scenes here as the notoriously inept Punjab Kings manage to not only purchase a player they didn’t want, (Shashank Singh), they also admit to this in front of literally everyone. Singh we can guess is sat at home wondering whether to show up in March. #IPLAuction #pbks pic.twitter.com/PtLQv9t07H

Even after this Mallika did not give up.
Mallika Sagar questioned Punjab Kings and asked, “Was it a wrong name? Don’t you want players?” We are talking about Shashank Singh. However, now the hammer has come down, and both players numbers 236 and 237 have become part of your team. After this Ness Wadia expressed his displeasure, but Mallika remained firm on her decision. In this way Shashank Singh unknowingly became a part of Punjab Kings.
