New Delhi. Virat Kohli has created a new history of runs in the Indian Premier League. King Kohli has become the first batsman to score 8000 runs in IPL history. He made this record during the IPL eliminator played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
When Virat Kohli took the field against Rajasthan Royals, he already had the orange cap of the tournament in his name. He had scored 708 runs before this match. As he took his 29th run in this match, he completed his 8000 runs in IPL history. Before this match, he had 7971 runs in his name in 251 matches. Now 8004 runs have been registered in his name in 253 matches. These include 8 centuries.
Virat Kohli, however, could not prolong his innings against Rajasthan Royals. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Virat Kohli in his first and eighth over of the innings. Kohli was caught at the midwicket boundary while trying to hit a six. He scored 33 runs in 24 balls before getting out.
Shikhar Dhawan (6769) is the highest run scorer in IPL history. But there is a difference of more than 1000 runs between Dhawan and Virat. This shows Virat’s dominance. Rohit Sharma is at number three in this list with 6628 runs.
