IPL Rising Star: Riyan Parag’s performance in the 17th season of IPL has been amazing. Riyan Parag is continuously scoring runs with his bat, but the journey till here has not been easy for him. Since his debut, Riyan Parag had to face a lot of trolling and criticism on social media platforms. The last season of IPL was very bad for him, before the start of the last season, he made a post on his social media and wrote that he would hit 4 sixes in an over in the IPL, but he could hit only 5 sixes in the entire season. And he faced a lot of criticism on social media. The power-packed all-rounder scored only 78 runs in seven matches in the entire IPL 2023 at an average of 13.00 and a strike rate of 118.18, but he made all the trolls his fan with his powerful performance. Unlike every season, this season people are praising him on social media.
Strong performance in domestic cricket
Riyan Parag maintained confidence in himself despite so much trolling and scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket. He showcased his power-hitting ability in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 competition and finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 510 runs in 10 matches with seven half-centuries. Where his strike rate was 182.29 and he maintained consistency by scoring runs at an average of 85.00. Ryan scored 378 runs in four matches at an average of 75.60 with two centuries and one half-century during the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season.
Run machine made in IPL
After such a stellar performance in domestic cricket, when he came out to bat for Rajasthan in the opening match of the season against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24, all eyes were on Ryan and he did not disappoint. In this match, Ryan played an inning of 43 runs in 29 balls and took Rajasthan to 193 runs in 20 overs. He got even better in the second game and registered his first half-century of the season by scoring a quickfire 84 runs in just 45 balls against Delhi Capitals. He has scored more than 400 runs in his name this season and he is the first uncapped Indian player to do so this season. In his last match also, he played a good innings against Sunrisers, although he could not win the match for his team.
Having already showcased his power-hitting ability in the first two games, Ryan’s patience was tested by Mumbai Indians bowlers in the third game when Rajasthan looked in trouble chasing the small target of 126. However, Ryan passed that test brilliantly and scored an unbeaten half-century to lead his team to victory at the Wankhede Stadium. The youngster has scored four fifties in the current season and is ready to score more. However, he has not been selected in India’s T20 World Cup team. But her explosive performance has definitely silenced her trollers now. If he continues to perform like this, he will soon get a chance to play for Team India.
