On this, former cricketer Anil Kumble has said that Gambhir can become the coach but he will have to give some time.
Anil Kumble said on ESPN Cricinfo, “You have to give Gautam Gambhir time. He is definitely capable. We have seen Gautam handle teams. He has been the captain for India, his franchise and Delhi. He has all the qualifications to do so. But, coaching the Indian team is a little different. You have to give him time to settle down. And as I said, if he takes up this position, he will have the task of looking after not only the current team but also the future of Indian cricket.”
