there is no harm in drinking cold water
Dr. M. Vali He has told that till date no such research or study has come out which has proved that drinking cold water during heatwave harms any part of the body. It is not written anywhere in medical science that drinking cold water in extreme heat causes any harm. He told that when the heat increases a lot, then obviously people will drink cold water. If you drink hot water, the body will start heating up more. No matter how much chilled water you drink in summer days, it will adjust as soon as it enters the body. He told that the temperature inside our body is constant, when some cold things go into it, the body’s mechanism will automatically balance it. The body has its own thermodynamics which is engaged in adjusting itself every moment. Therefore, there is no harm in drinking cold water in summer. Dr. Wali has told that the health related claims made on social media should not be believed without consulting doctors because there is no guarantee of it.
what to do in extreme heat
Dr. Wali told that heat stroke occurs when there is a complete lack of water in your body. In this condition, the body temperature goes above 104 degrees. In this situation, if the body is not hydrated immediately, then the brain, heart, kidneys and muscles start getting damaged. On the other hand, when the supply of oxygen to the brain starts decreasing or gets interrupted, then stroke can occur. Therefore, whether it is cold or normal water, always keep drinking it in summer days. To always keep the body hydrated, consume more of the watery fruits available in summer. Consume more of green leafy vegetables in the diet. Consume more of cucumber, watermelon, kale, celery etc. Drink a lot of pulses and pulse water. Along with this, do not go out in extreme heat. Stay in the shade as far as possible. Walk outside under an umbrella, wear sunglasses. Always keep water with you. Before going out in the scorching sun, wet the towel lightly and keep it on the head. In case of a little discomfort, drink ORS solution or mix salt and sugar in water and drink it.
