Amid the war in Gaza, the Maldives’ Muizzu government has taken a big decision. The Maldives government has announced that it will ban the entry of Israeli citizens into its borders. Home Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihusan said that President Mohammed Muizzu has decided to initiate the necessary legal changes to implement this ban during a cabinet meeting.
A special Cabinet Committee of Ministers has been formed to implement this decision. The Maldives President’s Office said in a press release, “President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has resolved to ban Israeli passports following the Cabinet’s recommendation.” The press release said, “The Cabinet’s decision includes amending the necessary laws to prevent Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives and establishing a Cabinet sub-committee to oversee these efforts.”
10 lakh tourists come to Maldives
The Muizzu government has taken this decision in view of the ever-increasing anger among the people of Maldives over the Israeli army’s attack on Gaza. More than one million tourists visit Maldives every year. This includes about 15,000 tourists from Israel. At the same time, the Maldives government has also decided to discuss with Muslim countries to raise funds and support Palestinian citizens. It is being said that funds will be collected for Palestinian citizens through UNRWA. Along with this, the cabinet has decided to appoint a special envoy to identify such areas where Palestine is in dire need of Maldives’ help.

Hamas claimed that 45 civilians were killed in this attack. When this attack was criticized worldwide, Benjamin Netanyahu considered it a tragic accident. In this attack, the IDF claimed to have killed two top Hamas commanders – Yassin Rabia and Khaled Najjar.
Thousands of rockets were fired on Israel
On October 7 last year, Hamas fired five thousand rockets on Israel. Along with this, Hamas fighters entered southern Israel and took about 250 people hostage. About 1200 people were killed in this Hamas attack. After this, Israel started a war against Hamas. Many hostages were released in the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas a few months ago, but even now dozens of hostages are in the custody of Hamas.
