A child of only five years has been provided appointment on the post of child constable. The case is of Katni district. SSP Sunil Jain has given appointment letter to the youngest child constable in the entire state. Other facilities including half pay will be provided to child reservation.
According to Katni SSP Sunil Kumar Jain, Shyam Singh Markam was posted as the head constable in Narsinghpur district. He was a police vehicle driver and died in February 2017 due to a heart attack. After the death of the head of the family, wife Savita Markam was given an opportunity to apply for compassionate appointment. He himself had given an affidavit with all the important documents of posting his 5-year-old son Gajendra Markam without taking the job. After investigation, the child was given a joining letter as a child constable in Katni.
ASP Jain told that the Markam family is originally from Seoni and the said case came to him from Narsinghpur. No work will be taken from the child constable and half salary will be given. If the child constable wants to study while staying in Katni, then on application, he will also be provided police quarters. While being a child constable, he will get education only and after completing the prescribed qualification at the age of 18 years, he will be given appointment to the post of constable.
