New Delhi. On the previous day, the two-and-a-half-hour bulldozer action in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri was stopped after the order of the Supreme Court. In this case, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation had started an anti-encroachment drive from 10 am. As part of this action, illegally built walls, shops and gates of a mosque were vandalized by bulldozers. However, later after the order of the court, the bulldozer remained silent. The Supreme Court heard the matter today. Advocates of the petitioners Dushyant Dave and Kapil Sibal presented their arguments in the court. Dave and Sibal tried to politicize the whole matter by trying to draw attention to more Muslims and bulldozers. Dave and Sibal said that the anti-encroachment drive is being linked to Muslims. A particular section is being harassed. Dave and Sibal appealed to stop the anti-encroachment drive across the country. On this argument of Sibal, the court reprimanded him.
These arguments took place between Kapil Sibal and Justice Rao
During the hearing in the Supreme Court against the action of MCD in Jahangirpuri, Kapil Sibal demanded a ban on demolition of bulldozers across the country, to which Justice Rao said, “We cannot order to stop the encroachment drive across the country. ” On this statement of Rao, Kapil Sibal said, “I am talking about bulldozers, the way everything is happening, it is wrong. To which the judge says, “This work is done only by bulldozer. Well, we get your point.” Sibal further says, ‘I mean before such action, notice should be issued that you remove the encroachment or we will remove it.’
Action continued even after the court’s decision
On Wednesday, Delhi Police and Central forces personnel were deployed in large numbers, giving Jahangirpuri the color of the cantonment. After this, from 9 o’clock in the morning, the MCD squad had arrived with 9 bulldozers. The encroachment was demolished by bulldozers up to a distance of about 2 km near Kushal Chowk. During this, the encroachment outside Jama Masjid was also broken by bulldozers. Many Hindus had also illegally occupied and built shops here. Action was taken against him also. Though the Supreme Court had ordered a stay of the proceedings, the proceedings continued till two hours after the judgment due to non-compliance of written orders. After this, CPM leader Brinda Karat reached the spot and showed the written order to the police and MCD officers. After which the action was stopped. Later, the management of a temple located here also removed the illegal grill outside itself.
