New Delhi. Sources in the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, which is probing the Jahangirpuri violence case, said the violence was pre-planned by the main accused, Mohammad Ansar Sheikh. Sources said on Friday that seven days before the Hanuman Jayanti procession on April 16, Ansar had organized a meeting to carry out the attack.
Sources close to the investigation said that Ansar held a meeting with 30 people at Kushal Chowk in Jahangirpuri to plan how they would stop the procession.
“The accused had deposited red colored stones on the roof of several houses. It was all pre-planned. Later the accused washed the entire roof. This was done to destroy the evidence,” the source said.
The source said that about 30 people attended the meeting called by Ansar.
Sources said that some teenagers were also involved in the meeting.
Sources also said that the accused were talking on WhatsApp calls to avoid recording.
Police are now trying to identify the accused.
Suresh, who was pulling the procession vehicle, said Ansar was leading the protest and was also instigating the crowd against him. He said that Ansar pushed him and asked him to stop the procession.
The crime branch has also scanned the dump data of 10,000 numbers that were active in the area at the time of the attack.
Violent clashes broke out during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in North West Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on 16 April. Delhi Police has so far arrested 22 people in this case.
