According to a defense spokesperson, on the intervening night of February 22-23, information was received about terrorist hideouts in Awanira and Shed Chak villages of Shopian. After this, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police took joint action and arrested two terrorist assistants. They were identified as Amir Amin alias Umar and Aaqib Mustaq Lone, residents of Avneera-shed Chak. After interrogation, an AK-47 rifle and 24 live cartridges were recovered from a nearby orchard on their behest. This action was taken after the killing of a Lashkar terrorist Mohammad Qayoom Dar of Pulwama in an encounter in Cherimarg village.
Baramulla Police had received information that unknown terrorist groups present in Khachdari Jahanpora are using illegal arms and ammunition to disturb peace and law and order against police and other security forces in Baramulla town. The team of security forces put up several nakas in the Shiri police station area. Two people were coming on a scooty (JK 05-9328) at the naka established on Jahanpora-Khadniyar link road. Seeing the naka, they started trying to run away. Vigilant security forces took both the persons into custody. Cartridges of AK-47 rifles were recovered from their possession. Both have been identified as Imtiaz Ahmed Bardal and Munir Ahmed. Both are residents of Khachdari Jahanpora. He admitted that he was acting as a facilitator for more TRF.
Weapons were provided to attack the security forces
Both the OGWs admitted that they used to help terrorists in supplying illegal arms and ammunition to attack the security forces. Apart from this, they also provided the accommodation, food and transportation facilities of the terrorists.
