Of the eight assembly seats, five are within the PM’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi. The eight seats are Banaras City South, Banaras City North, Shivpur, Sewapuri, Chhawni, Ajgara, Pindra and Rohaniya.
Varanasi district is witnessing a multi-cornered contest between BJP, Samajwadi Party and Congress. Voting will be held for 54 constituencies to be held on Monday in nine districts of Mau, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi (Sant Ravidas Nagar). A total of 613 candidates are in the fray for the last phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
