Congress’s spirits are high after the huge victory in the southern state of Karnataka, along with this, the internal tussle over the name of the Chief Minister also came to an end when Siddaramaiah named the Chief Minister while DK Shivakumar as the Deputy Chief Minister in a grand event. Sworn in as Along with him, 8 ministers of the cabinet had taken oath only then. But on Wednesday, when the MLAs who came from their respective constituencies took oath in the Assembly, a different scene was seen. During this swearing-in, some MLAs took oath in the name of mother cow, some in Hindutva, and some in the name of DK Shivkumar. Even RV Deshpande, the pro tem speaker of the Vidhansabha, was shocked to see all this. In the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, nine legislators took oath minutes before the Speaker’s election.
According to Karnataka state board officials, 182 people took the oath of office on 22 May and another 34 members the next day. Most of these nine MLAs are from JDS. It also includes big names like former CM HD Kumaraswamy (JDS), his brother and former minister HD Revanna. It is believed that these MLAs did not take oath earlier because they consider Tuesday to be inauspicious. These MPs were not allowed to vote in the Speaker’s election held on Wednesday. Five-time MLA and senior Congress leader UT Khadar has been unanimously nominated as the Speaker. There was not much opposition to his name.

It is worth noting that despite the newly-designated Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Deshpande insisting on taking oath on God or the Constitution, legislators within the Assembly have taken oaths of Lord Rama, Gaumata, Udupi Sri Krishna, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Deve Gowda, DK Shivakumar etc. Took oath in the name of which even Deshpande was surprised. The special thing is that DK Shivakumar, who is holding the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, took oath in the name of his religious guru Gangadhar Ajja. Along with this, several BJP MLAs took oath in the name of Lord Ram, while Congress MLA from Kolar Gold Fields Roopa Shashidhar took oath in the name of Mahatma Buddha, Basavanna, Dr BR Ambedkar, and Bhagwan Sabhi.
