Terming The Kashmir Files as a false film, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is terming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as anti-Hindu for advising to upload it on YouTube instead of making it tax free. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief has also faced outrage on social media. Now Kejriwal is seen in damage control mode and in a TV interview, he has clarified his point. He said that injustice has been done to Kashmiri Pandits and everyone should come together to help them. When he targeted the central government for not returning the Pandits to Kashmir, he said about his laughter that Kashmiris were laughing at the BJP not at the Pandits.
Clarifying what was said in the assembly about The Kashmir Files, Arvind Kejriwal said in an interview to Times Now Navbharat, “It was presented in a wrong way. A great injustice was done to the Kashmiri Pandits. It was a huge tragedy.” Kejriwal further said that it has been 32 years since the exodus of Kashmir Pandits, any sensitive government would have given them justice. “They should have made arrangements for resettlement. They should have given land there and made a policy.
Targeting BJP, Delhi CM said, “Kashmir files are important for BJP. For me Kashmiri Pandits are more important. When Pandits migrated from Kashmir, 233 in Delhi had joined the Delhi government as contract teachers in 1993. When our government came, we made 233 permanent. We didn’t make a film on him.”
Kejriwal said that all he had demanded was that everyone should rise above the party line and make him return home. It is not right to earn crores by making a film in his name. Responding to the memes being made against him on social media, Kejriwal said that he was laughing at BJP and not Kashmiri Pandits.
Regarding the response from Anupam Kher, Kejriwal said that he is an actor and is doing his job. It is not wrong to make his film. The promotion of the film by BJP is wrong.
