New Delhi. A girl student died of food poisoning after eating shawarma (shawarma) at a shop in Kasaragod district of Kerala, another 18 students also succumbed to food poisoning. The age of the deceased student is 16 years. It is being told that the student had eaten shawarma at a food stall near the tuition centre, after which her health deteriorated. After her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to the district hospital, where she died during treatment. As soon as the information was received about the matter, the food stall located in Cheruvathur area, from where the student had eaten shawarma, has been sealed, as well as investigation has been started after registering a case in this regard.
According to the information given by the police, Devanand, a 16-year-old student living in Kasaragod, died during treatment at the district hospital, while 18 other students have been admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. At present, everyone’s condition is under control. Talking to the media, Kasaragod District Medical Officer AV Ramdas said that ‘we are expecting more such cases. Hence doctors and staff of all nearby medical institutions have been asked to attend Cheruvathur PHC and Nileswaram hospitals. People with mild cases will be treated in these hospitals, while the cases will be transferred to the district hospital. During this, Minister MV Govindan met the hospitalized students and said that the state government will ensure that good quality food is served in all the hotels of the state and the government will also inspect it.
