While hearing the petitions filed in the case of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, today the High Court asked a sharp question to the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal, asking why the government is trying to save the principal of the medical college? The court also asked how will you assure that the investigation will be transparent? The court has ordered to present the case diary of this entire case today itself. Let us tell you that the Principal of the Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, resigned from his post yesterday. But shortly after the resignation, he has been reappointed in Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital.

Due to this, West Bengal Minister Javed Ahmed Khan and TMC MLA Swaran Kamal Saha had to face strong protest from students at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The High Court Chief Justice asked whether the statement of the Principal of RG Kar Medical College has been taken in this case? The state government was asked whether any special investigation team has been formed to investigate this matter, to which the government replied that a 7-member SIT has been formed.

On the other hand, Dr. Indra Shekhar Prasad, President of Resident Doctors Association AIIMS Delhi, said that this is a very serious incident. A woman on duty was brutally murdered after being sexually harassed. If such incidents happen at workplaces, how will women work? We want a CBI inquiry into this, until then we will continue our protest. Let us tell you that resident doctors in most government hospitals across the country are on strike since yesterday in protest against the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor. Doctors have also boycotted OPD services today. Due to this, health services are being badly affected. Patients and their attendants are wandering here and there in hospitals.
