New Delhi, April 12 (IANS)| The LG Wing, a dual-display smartphone featuring a rotatable main screen, has now received a price cut. Now this smartphone will be available on Flipkart in India for Rs 29,999. A Flipkart listing with revised pricing reveals that the smartphone with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which was launched in the country for Rs 69,990, will soon be available at a discounted price of less than Rs 30,000. The company has recently announced the closure of its mobile phone business unit and meanwhile LG is offering special discounts on its smartphones on the platform.
The South Korean company said in a regulatory filing that its mobile communications (MC) arm will no longer manufacture and sell handsets after July 31. The reasons behind this decision have been cited citing slowdown and fierce competition in the industry.
The announcement comes two months after the company had earlier said that its MC division was open to all possibilities for its future course of action. The company said its exit from the mobile business will reduce revenue in the short term, but will ultimately improve its financials and management efficiency in the long term.
