New Delhi. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani (96) was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi late Wednesday night. PTI gave this information quoting sources. A source said, “His condition is stable and he has been kept under observation.”
The former Deputy Prime Minister has been admitted to the old private ward of AIIMS and it is being said that doctors of the urology department are treating him. However, no clear information has been given immediately about his illness.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to the hospital just three months after being awarded the country’s highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratna’. President Draupadi Murmu had conferred the ‘Bharat Ratna’ on Advani by visiting his residence in Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and LK Advani’s family members attended the formal ceremony.
LK Advani served as Deputy Prime Minister of India from June 2002 to May 2004 and as Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004. He was also the National President of the BJP several times – from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998 and 2004 to 2005.
