New Delhi. Campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections will end this evening. In the first phase, voting will be held on April 19 for 102 Lok Sabha seats in 17 states and 4 union territories. In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, 29 from Tamil Nadu, 12 from Rajasthan, 8 from UP, 6 from Madhya Pradesh, 5 from Uttarakhand, 5 from Assam, 5 from Maharashtra, 4 from Bihar, 3 from West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. Voting will be held on 2 seats each, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
Nomination papers were taken till March 27 for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. The scrutiny of nomination papers took place on March 28. At the same time, March 30 was the last date for withdrawal of names. This time also the Election Commission has decided to conduct the Lok Sabha elections in 7 phases. Voting for the first phase will be held on April 19. After this, it was decided to hold voting on 26th April for the second phase, 7th May for the third phase, 13th May for the fourth phase, 20th May for the fifth phase, 25th May for the sixth phase and 1st June for the seventh and final phase. The Election Commission has done it. The results of Lok Sabha elections will come on June 4.
Many of the places where the first phase of voting is going to be held are also Naxal affected. Polling personnel have been sent by helicopters to Naxal affected Lok Sabha seats. Tight security has been provided at all the polling stations in Naxal-affected Lok Sabha seats.
