New Delhi: The third phase of Lok Sabha elections has started in the country. Today voting is taking place for 93 seats in 11 states and union territories of the country. PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have also cast their votes today. There are 1300 candidates in the fray for a total of 93 seats, of which 120 are women, while the number of eligible voters is more than 11 crore. Congress’s performance in the last two elections on these 93 seats has been very bad and it has not been able to win more than 8 seats. Whereas BJP has maintained its dominance on these seats.
What happened in the last elections?
In the 2019 and 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had performed brilliantly on these 93 seats. BJP had won 71 out of 93 seats in 2019, while it had won 66 seats in the 2014 elections. In the 2009 elections, BJP had won 46 seats.
Whereas, out of these 93 seats, Congress had won 5 seats in 2019, 8 seats in 2014 and 24 seats in 2009. In the year 2019, JDU, NCP and Shiv Sena got 3 seats each.

Parties fighting alone on many seats
This time BJP is fighting alone on 25 seats in Gujarat, 14 in Karnataka, 10 in UP and 7 in Chhattisgarh. Whereas Samajwadi Party is alone on 9 out of 10 seats in UP. Whereas Congress is in the fray alone from Fatehpur Sikri.
These 8 seats are under discussion
This time 8 out of 93 seats are in discussion. These include Gandhinagar, Mainpuri, Baharampur, Baramati, Vidisha, Guna, Rajgarh and Badaun. Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri, Yusuf Pathan and Adhir Ranjan from Baharampur, Supriya Sule from Baramati, Shivraj Singh Chauhan from Vidisha, Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna, Digvijay Singh from Rajgarh and Shivpal Singh Yadav from Badaun are contesting the elections.
