Lucknow. After conducting the survey of madrassas in UP, now CM Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to know their source of income. Madrassas had told during the survey that they get money through zakat. Zakat means charity given by Muslims. Madrassas have told that apart from Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Muslims settled in Saudi Arabia and Nepal also donate to them. Minority Affairs Minister Dharampal Singh gave this information. The government is probing the funding of madrassas so that it can be known whether any anti-national forces have a hand in it.
Minister Dharampal Singh also held a meeting with departmental officers in this regard. The action to be taken against unrecognized madrassas was also discussed. It has come to know that 500 madrassas are running in Siddharthnagar bordering Nepal, 400 in Balrampur, 200 in Lakhimpur Kheri, 60 in Maharajganj and more than 400 madrassas in Bahraich and Shravasti without recognition. According to sources, all of these madrassas have come up in the last two decades. For this reason, they are being thoroughly investigated.
Talking about unrecognized madrassas, 8496 unrecognized madrassas have been found in 75 districts of UP. Even the world-famous Darul Uloom Madrasa is also included in the unrecognized one. Intelligence agencies had also raised apprehensions about a large number of madrassas flourishing in the areas of UP bordering Nepal. In such a situation, the government has special eyes on the madrasas of these areas. The Yogi government had earlier said that it wanted to know about the syllabus and funding of madrassas apart from the number of students. So that the condition of these madrassas and those studying in them can be improved. Along with this, students can also get modern education from these madrasas.
