Madhya Pradesh Dam: Bhopal (State Bureau). Now silt will be removed from two big dams of Madhya Pradesh, Tawa and Bansagar. For this, the Water Resources Department has started the process of tendering. The work will be given to companies that have experience in this area and also have the resources. Along with silt, sand will also come out from these dams. However, the government will not have any right on this. That is, the company will be able to sell itself, they just have to pay royalty. With this, the government is expected to get more than Rs 50 crore annually. At the same time, the company will be able to sell the silt from the dam as fertilizer to the farmers. Not only this, products other than manure are also prepared from silt. The government will also get tax from this.
The Shivraj government had taken a decision about seven months ago to remove the silt from the big dams of the state. The intention of the government behind this is to increase the water holding capacity of the dams. The government believes that in this way the silt will also come out of the dams and some amount will also come in the government treasury. At the same time, due to the increase in the water holding capacity of the dams, the crops will get more water. Presently, tenders are being floated for silt removal from Tawa in Narmadapuram district and Bansagar dam in Rewa district. The state government has estimated 15 to 40 per cent sand output from these dams with silt content. In the next phase, efforts will start for Indira Sagar in Khandwa district and Rani Avantibai Sagar (Bargi) dam in Jabalpur.
The government has also started a campaign for the deepening of dams.
The company will set up the plant near the dam and will install dredging machines with the help of small ships. This will remove the silt and sand. This machine does sand filtration. The sand is thrown out of the dam with the help of a long pipe (conveyor belt). It is known that the government has started deepening drive to increase the water holding capacity of big and small dams. In the previous tenure of the government, the dams were dug by employing laborers in public participation and MNREGA scheme, but relatively did not get success. As long as the public representatives and officials were active, only that time the work was done. So now this way has been found.
