New Delhi. In Maharashtra, the issue of loudspeakers is not taking its name to stop now and from above, another burden of calamity has been imposed on the state government by the Supreme Court. The Maharashtra government was trying to postpone the local body elections, but this time the Supreme Court in strong words has ordered the state government to conduct elections within two weeks. The Maharashtra government, which is in constant discussion, has got a big setback from the Supreme Court this time. Actually, this time the matter is about the local body elections. The Supreme Court has ordered the Uddhav government of Maharashtra to declare the date of pending elections in BMC and other bodies within two weeks.
It is noteworthy that the state government had said to hold local body elections only after the OBC reservation was approved, but now the court has said that the constitutionality of this order will be heard later. The municipal corporations in which elections are to be held in Maharashtra are as follows- Pune, Nashik, Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Solapur and Kolhapur. Elections in Maharashtra are to be held in 20 Municipal Corporations, 25 Zilla Parishads, 285 Panchayat Samitis, 210 Municipal Corporations and 2000 Gram Panchayats.
Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had stayed the OBC reservation and along with it rejected the report of the Maharashtra State Backward Classes Commission. The report said that the final report was prepared without data study and research. Let us tell you that the politics of the state has been heated due to many issues in Maharashtra these days. Today, an independent MP from Amravati was arrested after reading Hanuman Chali in front of the Chief Minister’s house and today the Supreme Court has granted him bail.
