Devrani-Jethani Temple, Talagaon
Talagaon is situated on the banks of Maniyari river at a distance of 26 kms from Bilaspur. Situated here, the huge and monolithic universe containing Rudra Shiva’s statue is enshrined. It displays an unmatched specimen of architecture and sculpture. This statue has been installed in the Devrani-Jethani temple. Talking about the temple, its construction is based on Mahagauri’s integer letter Naugraha. Archaeologists and historians say that between the fifth and sixth centuries, the temple must have been the main site of tantra-mantra seekers.
They claim that this temple is about 1500 years old. From the sages and sages to the nymphs of Indra, rivers, goddesses mentioned in the Puranas, as well as different stories of Shiva and Parvati have been carved in the stone on the lion gate of the temple. The huge nine and a half feet statue of Rudra-Shiva has been adorned with creatures from head to toe. The Archaeological Department started excavations in the year 1984 at Talagaon on the banks of Maniyari river which lasted for three years. In the year 1987, this huge statue of Rudra-Shiva and idols of Naugraha along with Shiva Gauri also came out.
Pataleshwar Mahadev, Malhar
Malhar is located 32 km away from Bilaspur city. A temple named Pataleshwar or Kedareshwar Mahadev has been established here. It was built by a Brahmin named Somraj between the 10th to the 13th century during the Kalchuri period. Pataleshwar Mahadev Shivling is enthroned in the ground of the temple. Particularly, 108 angles have been made in the temple. The Shivling is in the shape of a black and shiny stone gaumukhi. It is believed that the water offered in the water of Lord Shiva directly reaches the Hades. A 15-day grand fair is held here on Mahashivratri.
Budha Mahadev, Ratanpur
Lord Vridheshwarnath Mahadev is described in Shiva Mahapuran. The Shiva temple at Ratanpur is mentioned in the Shivmahapuran. Ratanpur, the city of Mother Mahamaya, was also known as Lahuri Kashi due to the abundance of Shiva temples in ancient times. Here Vriddheshwarnath Mahadev is established just below Ramtekari. According to folk belief, it is also called Budha Mahadev. The Shivling established in the Vriddheshwarnath Mahadev temple is self-proclaimed. The figure of Lord Shivling situated in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is astonishing. On seeing the water situated at the bottom of the Parthiv Shivling, it appears as if the galaxy is contained in it.
The special thing is that the water offered in the Shivling does not come up and the level of the water inside the Shivling remains the same. No one has been able to know the secret of where the water offered on this Shivling goes. Due to the deep faith among the people, after the month of Sawan, a crowd of devotees gather to have darshan of Lord Shiva in Mahashivratri. Vriddheshwarnath Temple is a very ancient temple. This temple was renovated by King Ratnadev in 1050 AD. There are many legends about this temple.
