New Delhi. The High Court rejected the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. With this, Sisodia got two shocks one after the other today. Earlier, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Sisodia till May 31. While giving the verdict on the bail of Manish Sisodia, the single bench of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma of the High Court said that I believe that there has been no delay in the trial of the case. Let us tell you that Sisodia had sought bail on the basis of delay in the trial of the case. Sisodia will now approach the Supreme Court for bail.
Manish Sisodia was arrested on 26 February 2023 in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Liquor Policy scam and since then he has been in jail for almost 15 months. In this case, Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MP Sanjay Singh were also arrested, but the Supreme Court has granted bail to both of them. Although Arvind Kejriwal has got interim bail only till June 1 for election campaign, he will have to surrender on June 2.
In this case, ED in its charge sheet has described Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin of the scam and Manish Sisodia as the main accused. Recently, in the supplementary charge sheet filed by ED, along with Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party has also been made accused. In this case, K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, was also arrested by ED. During ED custody, CBI had sought permission from the court to interrogate Kavita and after interrogation, CBI released K from ED custody. Kavita was arrested. At present K. Kavita is also in Tihar jail and her bail application has also been rejected.
