Lucknow. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati on Sunday hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his statement that the BSP president had not responded to the party’s alliance during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. “The Congress needs to worry about itself first,” he told a press conference.
“Congress should take care of its house instead of targeting the BSP,” he said.
Mayawati said that what Rahul Gandhi said is an “absolute lie”, Congress should worry about itself instead of worrying about other parties.
He said, “Congress should think 100 times before making such remarks. They have been unable to win from BJP but kept targeting BSP because of its casteist mindset. Congress did nothing in power and out of power also. has done.”
Mayawati said that former Prime Minister and late father of Rahul Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi had also tried to defame her Bahujan Samaj Party.
On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi had said that the Congress had offered Mayawati an alliance and even offered to make her the chief ministerial candidate, but “she didn’t even talk to us”.
Hitting out at the BSP chief, Rahul had alleged that Mayawati had given a clear path to the ruling BJP in the state because of “CBI, ED and Pegasus”.
Mayawati further said, “Now even Priyanka Gandhi is saying that I am afraid of ED and other investigating agencies. All these are not true. She should know that we have fought on all these issues in Supreme Court and won. Huh.”
The performance of Congress and BSP was the worst in the Uttar Pradesh elections. While Mayawati’s party managed to win just one seat, the Congress – despite Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s campaign campaign – got just two of the 403 seats in the crucial state.
