Patna. At least 12 people were injured when four shops, two cars and a bike caught fire after students of Bihar’s Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) clashed with the staff of a store.
The incident happened on Friday night and the injured included four medical students and a firefighter.
Police said the students hurled petrol bombs at the shop’s employees. However, four of them managed to escape.
Some medical students had gone to the grocery store to buy noodles. Since the shop owner was not present, he asked the employees to go to the nearby medical shop.
The students alleged that the pharmacy staff misbehaved with them and when they called other students to the venue, a violent clash broke out.
The students allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the shops, which started the fire. They also targeted two cars and a bike.
The fire brigade team immediately reached the spot to control the fire. A firefighter was also seriously injured when an LPG cylinder exploded at a shop.
Hari Narayan Singh, SHO of Laheriasarai police station said, “We have received a complaint from the owner of the chemist shop and investigation is on to identify the accused medical students.”
According to pharmacy owner Javed Khan, even after trying to convince the students, they could not be controlled.
