Just a month after securing a majority in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has created yet another history. For the first time, the saffron party has secured a majority in the Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh. BJP has now occupied 64 out of 100 seats in the Legislative Council. This has increased the power of the Yogi government. The government can now get the law passed by both the houses on its own. At the same time, the difficulties of the opposition party may increase due to the crushing defeat of the SP. The challenges of Akhilesh Yadav, who is already facing rebellion, will increase.
The BJP has won 33 of the 36 vacant seats in the Legislative Council from the local body’s jurisdiction. BJP candidates had won unopposed in 9 seats, while on Tuesday 24 more seats were declared winners. The results for Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav have been extremely disappointing. The party’s account could not be opened on even a single seat. At the same time, independent candidates have won 3 seats.
BJP’s defeat in these three seats
Bharatiya Janata Party has to face defeat on 3 seats in the Legislative Council elections. The biggest setback has come in Varanasi, where the party’s candidate is at number three. This biggest setback is being said because it is the parliamentary seat of PM Modi. Brijesh Singh’s wife Annapurna Singh has won in Varanasi. The party has also faced defeat in Azamgarh. Here Vikrant, the son of the expelled leader from BJP, has registered victory. Apart from this, BJP has also got defeat in Pratapgarh seat. Here Akshay Pratap of Raja Bhaiya’s party has won.
