MP Police Director General: Bhopal. (State Bureau). Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vivek Johri will retire on Friday, March 4. The government may send a proposal to the Union Public Service Commission on Wednesday to form a panel for appointment in his place. The Home Department has sent a list of all eligible officers to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Till the time the new Director General of Police is not selected, there is a preparation to give the charge of the post of Director General of Police. For this, the name of the current Director General Lokayukta Sangathan, Rajiv Kumar Tandon, a trusted officer of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is being taken prominently. He will retire in May 2022, by which time the process of selection of the new Director General of Police will be completed.
Home Department officials say that to select the new Director General of Police, the Union Public Service Commission makes a panel of names of three officers. For this, a list of all such officers is prepared and sent, who have at least six months to retire.
The process of preparing the panel takes one to one and a half months, so now there is a possibility of appointment of a new Director General of Police. Till this process is completed, the charge of the post will be given. For this, the name of Rajiv Kumar Tandon of 1988 batch is being taken prominently. However, three senior officers Arun Mohan Rao, Shailesh Singh and Rajendra Kumar Mishra are posted at the police headquarters. Generally, when an officer of a junior or equivalent batch is made administrative head, senior officers are posted elsewhere in an equivalent position. At present, the post is not available for this, so as an alternative arrangement, a system can be made that senior officers will report directly to the government.
Aruna Mohan Rao will retire this month
Arun Mohan Rao, a 1987 batch Officer Special Director General Training, will retire in March. At the same time, Special Director General Cooperative Fraud Rajendra Kumar Mishra will retire in October.
Sudhir Saxena Strong Contender
Sudhir Kumar Saxena, a 1987 batch officer posted in the central government, is a strong contender for the post of Director General of Police. After this, the name of the officer of the same batch is Pawan Kumar Jain, who is the Director General Home Guard. The senior officer of these two is Purushottam Sharma of 1986 batch. He is currently suspended, so he is considered out of the race.
Five years’ record will be sent with the proposal
Officials of the Home Department said that a list of all those officers who have completed 30 years of service will be sent to the Union Public Service Commission for making the panel of Director General of Police. To be made DGP along with the list, other information including consent letter, confidential character of five years will be sent. There they will be tested and then there will be a meeting. In this, the Chief Secretary will participate on behalf of the state. The Chief Minister will make the final selection from the panel of three names that will be sent.
