MP Student in Ukraine: Priyank Sharma, Gwalior, Naidunia. More than 500 Indian students, including Piyush Saxena and Alisha Khan of Gwalior, who were stranded in Ukraine’s Sumi city amid deadly Russian attacks, are now hopeful of a safe return. A message has been sent to these students from the Indian Embassy on Wednesday that they should keep their preparations complete. Soon they will be safely taken out of the war zone. The students have been told that they will be evicted within a day. In such a situation, these students are now just waiting for the next instructions from the embassy by tying their luggage.
In fact, to reach the border of Poland or Romania, these students will have to pass through Kyiv, where missiles are constantly being attacked. Due to attacks on Sumi too, these students have to spend days living in bunkers. These students have limited amount of food items. The relatives of these students had demanded from the Government of India through the district administration that the students were being asked to reach the border of Poland or Romania. The distance of this border from Sumi is about 800 km. Whatever cities are on this route, the Russian army is constantly attacking. This threatens their lives, while the Russian border is only 60 km from the city of Sumy and there is only one way left for these students to be evacuated from there. They can be taken out only from the border of Russia. For that the Government of India will have to negotiate with the Government of Russia and get consent. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, when the message from the embassy reached these students, their relatives also heaved a sigh of relief. The relatives hope that soon their loved ones will be in front of their eyes.
